On November 14, Joseph P. Totoro, II, of Wayne, Pa., was sentenced to 25 years of in prison for the sexual abuse of a child over a two-year time period.  The 51-year-old  was convicted in August 2017 of attempted production of child pornography, enticement of a minor, receipt of child pornography, possession of child pornography, transfer of obscene matter to a minor, and blackmail.  According to the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse that was launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
