The Upper Uwchlan Township Police Department was the recipient of a grant that fully paid for the purchase and outfitting a new patrol vehicle. The pick-up truck was chosen for its ability to perform a variety of tasks. Officers will have the ability to immediately deploy large warning signs at the scene of traffic accidents and large signs for road closures, including flooded roadways or trees/wires down in the roadway when public works is off duty. Another task is the ability to bring emergency personnel (police, fire,EMS) with their equipment to tend to an injured person along some of the township’s inaccessible areas. Additionally, officials say the vehicle will allow a patient to be brought out to the ambulance from such difficult to get to areas. The township’s walking and riding trails pose a challenge to first responders, and the new vehicle can aid them gaining access to such areas to reach victims safely. The vehicle will be used daily on routine patrol.
