According to Coatesville Police, they are searching for the operator of an ATV who dragged a police officer 100 yards Thursday evening. Police say that around 6:45 p.m. Thursday, April 12, officers observed dirt bikes and ATVs riding illegally on North 9th Avenue and East Chestnut Street. The operator of the ATV did a U-turn in front of the¬†police vehicle and then got caught up on the curb, making him come to a complete stop. The officer attempted to grab the ATV operator to stop him from escaping, and that is when the officer was dragged approximately 100 yards. The officer was taken to Brandywine Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Detectives are now searching for that ATV operator and are seeking the public’s help in identifying him. He is described as wearing a red helmet at the time of the incident and also a red and white riding shirt with light colored pants. The man also had a dark-colored backpack. The ATV was dark in color, and its make and model are¬†unknown. That ATV was last seen eluding police through the woods in the area of South 11th Ave. and Oak Street.
