Melissa Shusterman has announced her campaign to run for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in the 157th district. The seat is currently held by Republican State Rep. Warren Kampf. Shusterman, a democrat, mother and Schuylkill Township resident is also a local business owner. Her campaign slogan reads: “Common Sense Before Politics.” Shusterman says she wants to keep guns out of schools, make sure schools receive the resources they need to educate children, ensure accessible and affordable transportation options for residents and fight to protect open space. The 157th district seat covers areas of Phoenixville, Upper Providence, Schuylkill, and Tredyffrin Townships. Democrat Hans Van Mol ran against Kampf in November, but Kampf defeated Mols, maintaining that seat since 2010.
