Legislation in the Zero Waste PA package was discussed Tuesday by state lawmakers and environmental advocates. The series of bills is meant to address single-use plastics, and items that are contributing to what advocates say are society’s environmental problems. Local representatives Danielle Friel Otten and Melissa Shusterman were both present to discuss the measures they believe can help tackle the waste problem. Initiatives would include creating materials that are more naturally biodegradable, so as to curb the use of such common, throw-away items.
