As discussed in a borough council meeting, Kennett Square Township is considering a slight raise in taxes in efforts to raise money towards building a new library. The tax raise, if applied, would be a very small amount and only pay for about 1.5% of the total cost to build the library, council member Peter Waterkotte explains. Waterkotte stated that the tax raise would be as small as 10 cents per person, per day. Not only is the finance committee striving for this tax raise, but the library itself is starting a campaign in order to collect donations for construction costs. The finance committee will be making a recommendation on the proposal in the coming months, chestercounty.com reports.
