According to Chester County’s Department of Emergency Services, first responders were dispatched shortly after 5:30 Thursday morning to Ship Road and Route 30 for a one-vehicle accident. That happened near the parking lot of old Entemanns Building. The vehicle rolled over, partially ejecting and killing 48-year-old Robin Maikranz of Collegeville. According to West Whiteland Township Police, evidence located at the scene indicated that there may have been another occupant in the vehicle at the time of the crash. At approximately 11 a.m. Thursday, investigators located 38-year-old Randy Jacob Swift of Collegeville, at a residence in Sanatoga. Swift admitted to being the operator of the vehicle at the time of the crash. He was subsequently taken into custody and returned to Chester County. Swift was charged with Accidents Involving Death or Personal Injury, Accidents Involving Death or Personal Injury While Not Properly Licensed, Recklessly Endangering another Person and Driving While Operating Privilege is Suspended or Revoked. He was arraigned by Judge John Bailey. His bail was set at $1,000,000. Swift was unable to post bail and he was remanded to Chester County Prison. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 20.
