Well over 1 million people from all over the world tuned in online yesterday to watch the first ever Fortnite World Cup, a video game tournament with the biggest prize pool in any e-sports tournament. The tournament took place at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in Manhattan, New York, where thousands of fans flooded the arena. Fortnite, from Epic Games, is a very popular competitive video game. With over 40 million people attempting to qualify for this tournament, only 100 people from 30 different countries were able to participate. Kyle Giersdorf, of Montgomery County, took home first place during Sunday’s tournament and received a total of $3 Million in cash prizes. While most people think of playing video games as a pass-time, this Pottstown teen turned it into a career and on Sunday it changed his life forever.
